By Helga ConradUmpqua Economic Development Partnership is very pleased to accept this grant of $50,000. Sue Shaffer presented the first 2004 Cedar Funds Grant of$50,000 to the organization during the advisory board meeting where partners Wayne Luzier with CCD; Norm Gershon from UT&E; Dave Sabala and Debbie Fromdahl from the Roseburg Area Chamber of Commerce and Helga Conrad, UEDP director were present. In October of 2001 the Partnership had received $70,000 in Cedar Funds to assist with marketing and outreach.
These funds allow a broad base marketing effort which includes: trade show travel, mailing and call programs, leveraging of marketing funds with our South West Oregon team as well as the Oregon Economic Development Association marketing plan.
This contribution from the Cow Creek Tribe will help UEDP with funding for marketing efforts in economic development. The partnership is no longer eligible for Regional Investment Grants as they have been in the past, and the timing for this generous grant could not have been better.
The partnership appreciates this strong support and recognizes the ongoing support that the Tribe has given to economic development both in the past, as well as current support. We will use the Cedar Funds Grant contribution to continue our marketing efforts and to work with companies who have the ability to bring jobs to Douglas County.
The partnership is focused on developing clusters of light and medium manufacturing that fit our area and workforce. In addition we are working with our existing business community so that expansions are encouraged and supported.
On behalf of the Partnership; the City of Rose burg, CCD Business Development Corporation, The Roseburg Area Chamber of Commerce and Douglas County Industrial Development Board, thank you very much for this contribution.
