EUGENE — Sue Shaffer, chairwoman of the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians, was scheduled to receive an award from the University of Oregon today.
Shaffer is being honored with the Outstanding Service to the State of Oregon award, according to a release from the tribe. Shaffer was one of several honorees at an awards ceremony on the UO campus in Eugene at 3 p.m., June 15, 2006.
The other awards were for outstanding teacher of the year, distinguished alumna and distinguished young alumnus.
It is the fifth annual awards ceremony presented by the University’s advisory council and faculty and the department of planning, public policy and management.
